Create a TeamForge license key for a customer

To enable customers to use their TeamForge site, you have to create a license key for them.

  1. Ask the forge.collab.net site administrator for membership in the SourceForge License Key Generation project.
  2. In your My Projects list, go to the SourceForge License Key Generation project.
  3. Click License Key Gen in the project navigation bar.
Tip: You may want to bookmark this URL to get there directly: https://forge.collab.net/sf/go/lapp1121
  4. In the Registered Name field, supply the name of the customer that owns the site.
    • If you are setting up a new site, consult the customer to choose a unique but sensible name. It's common to use the customer's company name, or the URL of the site.
    • If you are creating a new license for an existing site, go to Admin > License Info on the site, and copy the value of Registered To into the Registered Name field.
  5. Provide the IP address of the site. If you are creating a license for an existing site, you can get this from the Admin > License Info page.
Tip: If there's any doubt about the IP address, check with the IT group responsible for installing and maintaining the site.
  6. Provide the number of users of each type and the expiration date specified in the customer's contract.
    • An ALM license enables you to use the full set of tools on the site, including Source Code, Trackers, Documents, Tasks and Reports.
    • An SCM license enables you to use the site for basic source code management. You can browse repositories and participate in Wiki conversations.
  7. Click Generate License Key.
  8. Copy the generated license key and deliver it to the customer.
Tip: Point the customer to Supply your TeamForge license key for instructions on how to use it.
